September Favorites

September is one of my favorite months. It’s not only my birth month (thanks for all the birthday wishes and gifts, by the way!), but it’s also the month of transitioning from summer into fall, my favorite season. And although the trees have yet to turn color, the weather foreshadows a gorgeous fall to come.

1. L’Oreal EverStyle Root Lifting Spray

I used to use this product every day freshman year, until I got blunt bangs. Now that I’ve let them grow out into side bangs, I’m returning to my sky-high roots! This root lifting spray works perfectly. Before I go to bed every night, I liberally spray my roots with this and let it dry overnight. It does its job incredibly well, and smells amazing to boot.

2. Light Blue by Dolce and Gabbana

This was given to me as a birthday present along with so many other beauty products (INCLUDING Urban Decay’s NAKED pallet, which I have failed to take pictures of. Crap.) by my eldest brother’s girlfriend, Sarah. If you’re reading this, thanks so much!

The perfume is light and airy, but still intense. It smells like a feminine cologne (and if you know me, you know I love cologne). Its the perfect balance of edginess and subtlety. I’m pretty much in love with it.

3. Riding Freedom and Maniac Magee

Riding Freedom, by Pam Muñoz Ryan,  and Maniac Magee, by Jerry Spineli, are my two favorite childhood books. These books are the very essence of my life from kindergarten to third grade. Both are historical fiction, and deal with discrimination regarding gender (RF) and race (MM). They are both amazing books and easy reads. Give them a try and tell me what you think!

4. UrbanEars “Plattan” Headphones

I listen to music constantly. If you go to my school and pass me in the hallway, I’m most likely wearing these babies. UrbanEars “Plattan” classic headphones are literally perfect. I got the Plattan in sea-foam green my freshman year, and wore them out. I still use them occasionally, but this year I opted for something a little more…blendable. Can I say that?

Anyway, these headphones are stylish, have amazing sound quality, and come with an extra auxiliary plug so your friends can plug in and listen with you–no splitter required. Plus, the Plattan folds up into a package about the size of a fist for easy transport, and has a fabric cord to eliminate tangling. They’re just perfect, in every way.

5. Benedict Cumberbatch

Wait, a person can be a monthly favorite, right?

N0?

Oh well.

Benedict Cumberbatch is a flawless human being. He’s a fantastic actor in Sherlock, Star Trek, and Amazing Grace (yeah, I just made that connection now too). There’s really not even much to say. I wasn’t planning on featuring Benny, but look at him. Come on.

That’s all for now! I might post late late tonight or tomorrow afternoon with some 40’s inspired looks featuring some friends of mine, so keep on the lookout!

Thanks for reading!

Much love,

Erin
