So it begins–my 180 day adventure to self discovery, or something like that. I find that school puts a ton of pressure on teens to all look and act the same. There seems to be no desire to explore or express individuality during the school year, simply because we’re afraid of what other people will think of.

I’m already bogged down with all this academic and extracurricular responsibility. Why would I ever put myself in a position where I could be judged by my peers? That’s just too much for me to handle.

Sound familiar? I’ve been stuck in that state of mind for far too long, and I’m ready to venture into something new. So each day this next week, I’ll showcase what I wore or what I plan on wearing each day of the first week of school. Disclaimer: I’m not going to play it safe. This is a year I’ll never get back, so I’m going to dress how I want.

My school actually began this last Friday, which kind of sucks for blog structure but whatever. I wanted to give that shining but simple “it-girl” impression,  and dressed accordingly. I went with this beautiful lace shirt from H&M, which I freaking love. It makes a statement without being difficult to style or too in-your-face.

I like the way it looks without many distractions, so I steered away from wearing any jewelry. Since it makes a pretty big statement on its own, I just paired it with my basic skinny jeans from H&M and my character shoes. (I ended up wearing my Converse high tops instead because the heels were too slippery.)

Stay in tune for my outfit updates throughout this next week, and comment what you wore to the first day of school, or what your personal goal this school year is. I’d love to hear from you!

Much love,
