Make the Cut

Junior year is officially in full swing, as my first week of school comes to a close.

How is it, you ask?

As I said before, it’s junior year. Not much else to say about it.

I have found that the hotter it is outside, the colder it is inside. This makes getting dressed…involved. How are you supposed to dress for sixty degree weather AND ninety degree weather? This is what I’m thinking:

The shirt is light, loose, and has cutouts surrounding the collar so you can break the dress code without actually, you know, breaking the dress code. A light cardigan goes on top, an easy-to-chuck layer. As for the black pants and boots–that’s just a standard for me.

Minimal jewelry, as per the norm for me. It’s not that I don’t like the look of tons of stacked necklaces and bracelets and rings and crap, but more so that I just can’t seem to keep track of things like that. I’m even surprised that this gold band is still around.

The necklace adds interest to the top without  competing with the cutouts.

OKAY. Let’s talk about the hair.

Ever since I opted for the Ain’t-No-Wifey cut in late June, I’ve been bombarded with questions about upkeep, cutting it, styling, etc. So, I’ll take some of the FAQ’s about my hair and answer them now.

1. Who cut your hair?

I actually cut it myself originally to get this style, but I recently got it cleaned up at Dion’s South in Downtown Franklin. The girl had never done a pixie before, but she did a pretty good job of giving me exactly what I asked for.

2. How do you style your hair in the morning? Is it easier to handle now?

Gel on the sides and back, hairspray under the front and top. Done. No heat necessary in this look.

3. Why did you cut it????!!1!1!!11!?! It was SOoo0oOO pretty before I’m sad :'((((

Also get asked about wearing platforms to school a lot, as to whether or not it’s difficult to walk in them.

Or if kids look at me funny in the hallways for wearing them.

Practice makes perfect, I guess.
