September Favorites
I’ve contracted a terrible illness that I seem to get every few months, and I just can’t seem to beat it: I have blogger’s block. I haven’t taken any pictures like I promised, my outfits have been sub-meh at school and elsewhere, and I just haven’t been feeling it lately. Hopefully, I’m nearing the end of this sickness, but yeah. That’s what’s been up, if you’ve been wondering.
Despite my fashion sense being bedridden for an indefinite amount of time, I didn’t stop loving random crap last month. Here are my September Faves!
1. Stromae
Stromae has been on repeat for almost a week now. He’s a French alternative pop artist who’s crazy big in Europe right now. His voice is arrogantly seductive and confident, commanding my attention. Even though I don’t speak a lick of French (despite my three years of French classes…thanks private school!!1!11!1!) I find myself often just stopping and focusing intently on what he’s saying. I am consequently able to sing along to the basic syllables in most of his songs.
Check out his music videos here. Keep an eye out for “Papaoutai” and “Tous le Memes”.
2. Franco Sarto Tuxedo Leather Oxfords
Ever since I bought these shoes last week, I have worn them every single day. I’m really horrible at buying basic shoes, because the platforms just grab my attention and never let go, but I made it my mission to find the perfect plain black oxfords this time. My efforts definitely payed off–the shoes are nice and lightweight, comfortable, and low maintenance. Sorry about the crap photo, but, as I said, I have no pictures for you guys. Again, sorry.
3. Almay Concealer
I’m so happy that the weather shows signs of an impending cool-down, but the afternoons are still up in the mid-80’s which means that I’m still on my summer foundation routine. I highly recommend having a BB or CC cream based foundation routine for the warmer months and a full-on liquid foundation routine for the winter. Your summer skin will thank you for the break. But on to the concealer! This Almay wand application is one of the best concealers I have used–I put this under my eyes and on any blemishes and skin discolorations I may have that day. In using this along with other concealers, I find that my use of CC cream has gone down significantly because this concealer has such good coverage.
pssst: may do a makeup routine post in the future. Ya?
4. TEDxYouth@Franklin
I just want to take a minute to thank everyone involved in making TEDxYouth@Franklin happen, Ema for asking me to speak, and for my family, friends, and readers for supporting me in the writing and rehearsal process in the months before the event. All our hard work payed off, and I would have never had such an amazing opportunity without your support and encouragement. I love you guys 🙂
TED will post the videos of the talks in a few weeks, so I’ll definitely let you all know once that is up.
Those are all my September Faves! Be sure to like the Facebook page, check me out on Twitter @ProjectMaganda, Instagram, Pinterest, and wherever else @ErinKaelie.
Thanks for your patience and your time! New looks soon. PROMISE.
Much love,
Erin
